family photos

18 Dec

last week my very talented sister, Valerie, took our family photos for us.
she started a little photography business, if you’d like to check out her work, click here.
These photos I shared above were just some of my favorites.
Lux would refuse to smile in any photos! but she still looks pretty cute, if you ask me.
** how is it, that all my sister’s are super talented, crafty people? and i dont’ have a creative bone in my body? *sigh*

Packing, moving, unpacking…

8 Nov

We have finally finished moving all our things into our new place. There is a million things to do, and of course, it’s hard to do all those things with a baby.

AT&T has been here the last few days trying to set up our Internet and TV. I have been without these things for nearly a week. I am going, just ever so slightly, crazy. It’s really hard to be alone at home with someone who can’t talk without any background noise. Plus some of my favorite mornings are when I catch up on my DVR while Lux sleeps in my arms. But there’s been issues in connections and setting up the services. I hope it’s fixed soon, my sanity depends on it.

Other than, moving, not a whole lot has been going on. I got the new iPhone 5, which I love. I’m excited to have a phone that takes quality photos! Here’s a few just to make it worth your while:

*** I have data on my phone, hence why I’m able to write a post. However, I am coming close to my data cap. I NEED MY INTERNET BACK!!

Las Vegas

29 Oct

My mom, Lux, and I went to Vegas the 18th of this month. My brother, who passed his Nevada State Bar exam, was being sworn in by a judge. Mainly, I wanted to spend some time with my brother and my super lovely sister-in-law and my nephews and niece. We basically just watched movies, ate a lot of good foods, watched Dexter, and went to the Hoover Dam! It was great for Lux to meet all her little cousins. Lux did AMAZING on the flight there, and on the one home, we only had a little trouble landing. But MY ears were killing me on the landing, so I’m sure it couldn’t be any better for her little ears.

Here are some of my favorites taken from that week. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera when we went to the Hoover Dam–silly me!

Benjamin & Lux
Benny showing his cousin his toes.

My beautiful niece, Allison

My nephew, Brody. Leaning in for a kiss, maybe!?

Telling secrets…..

My brother being a nerd…

This is one of my favorite photos from the trip. Allison loves babies.

My brother, Leighton (My sister and mom call him Rudy, though) before his ceremony

Feeding my little baby nephew! I can’t wait for Lux to start eating solids =)

We made a tiny little mess….
It was such a fun trip. On Sunday, I went to church with the family, because they had their primary program. So I got to see my nephew and niece sing and speak! I haven’t been to church in like, 10 years. I’m glad I went. It was a lovely program.  My sister also ended up coming the night before we left. I think it’s always nice for my mother to see her children all together. Especially, when we’re laughing the whole time. We get a little crazy when we’re all together.

Nothing makes me happier than getting my brother and sister all under one roof!

Can I just pause and talk about how wonderful my sister-in-law, Kristen, is? She is, like, my hero. Three kids under the age of 6. She keeps a super clean house, and is an amazing cook. AND she puts up with my big brother. She is a saint, and I am very blessed to have her in my life!

Russell stayed behind back at home for this trip. I thought it was nice to give him a few days of peace and quiet. I know he used the time (when he wasn’t at work) to sleep, play his video games in his boxers, and drink some scotch. So, he got his much needed man time. I was happy to give it.

Now that we’re back at home, we have much to do. We are getting ready to move to a bigger place. [I CAN’T WAIT!!!!]

my dear, sweet grandfather

8 Oct

It is with great sadness that I write this today. My grandfather passed away yesterday afternoon. I know it was for the best, because the last month, let alone years, he had been really struggling and was in a lot of pain. He had all his best girls with him, his wife, my mom, my aunt, my sister, myself, and my daughter, when he passed. And his caregiver, Narcisse, was by his side. So he was not alone when he left this world. That makes me happy to know that he had us all there with him.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have all my grandparents up until this point. I will miss him so much. He   was the best kind of man out there. And he was the best provider a family could ever have. Because of him, my grandmother will never have a want. Because of him, I was able to go to the college of my dreams and not have to worry about how I was going to pay for summer school or my rent. He was always there giving help all around him, when we needed it.

He was a tough man. I remember for the longest time being scared of him because he was just so stern. I know he was this way because he loved us, and wanted us to succeed, like he had succeeded.

I’m going to miss my grandfather more than words can ever even describe… I hope that when and if I eventually have a son, that he can follow in my grandfather’s  footsteps, and succeed in anything he wants.

I love you grandpa. Thank you for everything you’ve ever done for me, my mom, my dad, my aunt, my sister, my daughter, my brother, my cousin… and all you’ve done for grandma to assure that she lives a comfortable life without you by her side. I will miss you always.

RIP John Bracco, Jr. (grandpa)

Russell’s best friend, Matt and his wife had their baby girl, Leah on Friday night.
(it’s pronounced Leia, like Princess Leia–just for all of you who are like me and think it’s like Lee-a)
I don’t want to get into any detail about their story, because it is not my story to tell. But I will say Victoria (and Matt, too) were put through hell and back. And what should have been a happy, joyous occasion for their family, quickly turned into a very scary one. Victoria has proven to be one of the strongest and bad-ass women I have ever met. And I am so happy that everything turned out for the better, and they will be safe at home very soon. We love the Harris family so very much.
I can’t wait to see our girls grow up together and become best friends like their daddy’s are.

Merrick (Not sure if that’s how to spell his name, I’ll get confirmation on this, he is Victoria’s sister’s little beef cake son-so cute!), my darling Lux, and little baby Leah. Clearly, they’re all bffs.

my mama.

19 Sep
My family: Mom, my sister, Trisha, and my brother Leighton (we call him Rudy) at his law school graduation at UNLV. A proud moment for my mama, and all of us really!
*Lux is also in this picutre =) I’m 29 weeks pregnant here. And it just so happens, this was also my 25th birthday.

My mother had I have always had our ups and downs. Probably more downs while I was growing up than ups. She’s definitely the alpha of the family. We’ve been at each other’s throats, and we’ve probably wanted to kill each other. The woman makes me crazy. However, she’s always supported me in whatever I wanted to do. She’s made mistakes, like all mothers do. And I never saw it before, until I had a daughter of my own, but this woman is the  strongest woman I’ve ever known. She’s difficult, at times, yes. But she’s been through hell and back, had things happen to her that many people could never bounce back from but still wakes up every day and does what she needs to do.

Today, I woke up not feeling my best. I called her and told her that I wasn’t feeling well and she offered to take the baby so I could rest. I felt bad, because I know tomorrow, she’s going to be taking me to the hospital and taking care of the baby when I have my endoscopic ultrasound tomorrow. She said no problem, I’ll help out again tomorrow. It feels pretty stinky to not be in the best health, and need extra help when needed.

Since having my baby, she has made me and Russell home cooked meals, done laundry for us, taken me to urgent care when i was sick, watched the baby when I’ve gone to my doctor appointments, or watched her on Russell and I’s anniversary, filled my gas tank… just because.

I am so fortunate, so lucky, so blessed to have a mother who is willing to be there for her family. Family will always come first to this woman. That is something that before, I never was interested in my family… but she has taught me to realize that there are very few things in life more important than family.

Thank you, mama. Thank you for all that you do for my family, and the rest of our family. You do so much for us all. I love you so much. Lux has the best grandmother in the world.

grandpa.

13 Sep

I’ve posted some about my grandfather in earlier posts. I’ve been going over there every day for the last couple weeks to visit with him and help out as much as I can. Most days I bring the baby, I figured that the house needs to be filled with some sorts of joy with how things have been going. I don’t want to go into too much detail about all the happenings going on over there because it’s very personal to me and my family… but things have been pretty hectic, to say the least.

All I know, is that I’m so very pleased to share my daughter to her great-grandpa. He is one of the very best men out there… and it makes me happy to know the two got to meet and give each other love. Even if she won’t remember him, I will remember it.
